Moel Famau
Moel Famau’s easy circular is a proper Coddiwomple in classic Welsh upland country. We’ll follow well-trodden paths around gentle slopes and open ridges, taking in wide panoramas and plenty of natural curiosities along the way. There are rocks to clamber, grassy hollows to investigate, and unexpected viewpoints that demand a pause — perfect for grub stops, stick collecting, or that “look what I found” moment. It’s active and engaging without being steeper mountain territory, and the route keeps a friendly rhythm that suits families who like to move, explore, and soak up space together. Expect fresh air, big skies, and a real sense of accomplishment.

What equipment will we need?
General...
✔ Comfortable walking shoes or boots with good grip
✔ Weather-appropriate layered clothing (base, mid, waterproof)
✔ A well-fitting backpack (20–35 L)
✔ Plenty of water and favourite snacks (plus a shared flask)
✔ Map, route info, or simple navigation tools (even on familiar trails)
✔ Waterproof jacket and extra layer for changing conditions
✔ First-aid kit and any personal medications
✔ Sun protection (hat, sunscreen) and insect repellent
✔ Tissues or wipes
✔ Small sit mat or lightweight blanket for breaks
kids stuff...
✔ Child-sized backpack with light load (aim for ≤10 % of body weight)
✔ Water bottle kids can carry themselves
✔ Spare hat and extra layer just for them
✔ Familiar, energy-dense snacks
✔ Small fun item (not heavy!) like a nature notebook or simple binoculars

What happens in bad weather?
Sometimes, bad weather just happens. We’ll only cancel if it’s unsafe. Otherwise, we embrace it (and laugh about it later).

Are dogs allowed?
Usually no, as these are family-focused group events and some children may be nervous around dogs. (We love them though.)
